Human 3D Anatomy Models

Since 2011 Atomedge has worked closely with the University of Cape Town by 3D scanning cadaver remains, and worked under the close guidance of experts in the anatomical field to create a set of world class digital assets. These assets cover every major anatomical structure, including bones, muscles, and body systems.

Designed for use in interactive environments such as VR and AR gaming, as well as animation, illustration, film production, medical research and anatomy education. These models provide enhanced functionality for a variety of applications. Whether you're studying the skeleton model or nervous system, our 3D models are indispensable tools for today’s medical learners and researchers.

Hyperrealistic Rendering

Whether you’re going for a photo-realistic depiction of human anatomy, or a more stylized representation of a medical concept, there’s no reason the imagery shouldn’t be breathtaking. With our background creating high-end animation content and VFX for broadcast and film, we’re always looking to raise the bar.

Features

(It’s a long list)

  • Let’s begin by acknowledging that “Anatomically Accurate” is a “bold claim” - every human body has it’s unique features. Even so, we’ve employed extreme measures to build a medically reliable 3D human anatomy model that any medical healthcare professionals worth their salt would appreciate.

  • Let’s face facts, it’s the wild west out there when it comes to 3D anatomy models. We recognized early on that very few 3D artists have observed or are even aware of the expectations of academic institutions. We’re proud to be one of the only creators that has gathered source data in an ethical manner, by working under the strict guidance of a leading tertiary institution with measures such as ethics committee approval and adherence to academic conventions.

  • All of our geometry structures have been correctly named, and the branch structure of our model follows established academic norms. We’ve adopted the TERMINOLOGIA ANATOMICA standards as the starting point. The model also includes numerous “category groups” for quick selection of various structures that overlap multiple anatomical systems. A complete and thorough break down of all parts and file layout is available prior to purchasing to ensure that the bits you need will be there when you need them.

  • With over 5900 separate geometry-object structures our model, is without a doubt, the most comprehensive medical 3D anatomy model solution available anywhere on the globe. We’ve included an immense level of detail, particularly in key areas where specialist story telling is required. We continue to refine our models, and welcome feedback regarding areas of priority for our clients.

Just how detailed are we talking? | Have a look at some examples

  • Our models are all streamlined from a technical perspective to ensure the smoothest “plug-n-play” integration with various workflows, be they in game engines such as Unity & Unreal, or in leading 3D software such as Blender, Cinema 4D, Autodesk Maya and 3DS Max.

Our topology is clean, made mostly of quads, and has been designed to strike the perfect balance between high density in detailed areas and sparsity in less detailed regions. This way the model achieves efficiency be it in real time viewing for interactive gaming or hyper real rendering.

  • Each of our 3D anatomy models comes fully rigged, offering enhanced flexibility for use in dynamic environments such as VR simulations and animations.

The rigging allows for realistic movement of anatomical structures like muscles, bones, and joints, making it ideal for medical professionals, physiotherapists, and educators who need to demonstrate complex body mechanics or simulate surgical procedures.

This feature significantly enhances the functionality of our models, particularly in interactive learning settings and surgical simulations.

  • We don’t mess around when it comes to texture files. Mostly 8k all the way up to 16k for demanding regions, we’ve got you covered. The majority of our textures start with high resolution photographs of real-life hard and soft tissue specimens in special “flat” studio lighting. We offer both a “photo-real” range and a “graphic stylized” range so that the content you create is audience appropriate.

Standard diffuse, displacement, roughness and normals, support for PBR.

  • We’ve been around for a while, and have racked up an impressive list of clients. The industry range is vast from ivy league universities, to pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, law firms, publishers, game developers and Hollywood studios. We also cater to medicine students and physiotherapists, ensuring that our models meet the rigorous standards of professionals from all fields.

All our models have been thoroughly tested to ensure that they perform well. We test in-house by investing in VR equipment which we use to run simulations on our models so that we know what clients can expect when using them in Unreal and Unity game engines. We own filament and resin 3D printers so that we can push our models to their limits and find the breaking points (literally). We engage meaningfully with long standing clients to offer early access to updates and new content and take their feedback to heart.

Who exactly are your clients? | Have a look at some case-studies

  • Many of our clients are medical professionals who are often new to this “3D model stuff”, and don’t always feel super confident when it comes to the technical aspects. Sound familar?

No problem! We’ve all got to start somewhere, and we wouldn’t want you to feel that you’d invested in a powerful piece of software only to be left in the lurch with a technical hurdle you may not have anticipated.

We’re here to help whether it’s a technical problem or an anatomical conundrum you’ve encountered. Let us know so we can help you through it.

  • We get it - it’s a bit scary investing in an asset of this magnitude. You’re wise to be cautious, particularly if you’ve seen some of the other stuff out there - yikes!

It’s really simple - if our products end up being unsuitable for your needs then we have a 100% money back policy.

Really? Yep, however before we get to that point we’ll begin by first gaining an understanding of what it is that’s not quite meeting your expectations. We’ll engage with you to see if we can make adjustments to our offering so that your concerns are meaningfully addressed. First prize for both parties is a solution that works, but it’s always nice to know that we can part ways with no hard feelings if if doesn’t work out.

  • Our collection has evolved a great deal over the years and we’ve got big dreams for where we’re headed. Our team is constantly working on upgrades to our collection. This includes updates, fixes and new software compatibility migration.

Purchasing a license to use our models means that you automatically gain access to future updates of that range at no additional cost - forever.

  • Let’s empower you to create without the stress of not knowing what the boundaries are. We have multiple license options available from the super-simple (good for start ups, individuals and small companies) to the very-versatile (for large scale publishers, broadcasters and enterprise content distributors).

Which one is right for you? | Compare licenses here

  • Our models come standard with a Comprehensive Documentation PDF file, which covers all the stats and basics of the model. This means that your team can get up to speed with the model quickly and with ease.

It includes a complete anatomy list off all parts included, as well as a handy software “cheat-sheet” for those who are new to 3D animation software.

  • There are significant savings to be had by purchasing a “complete anatomy 3D model” collection from us. Having said that it’s not our intention to punish those who might only need a specific element up front. Isolated anatomical models are a bit pricier, but if at a later stage your needs change and you’re ready to go for the full suite, let us know, and we’ll discount your upgrade so that you never pay more than the “complete” set price shown for the full collection.

  • So you wanna test drive the model before committing?

We totally get that - it’s a big purchase, and it’s important that you’re feeling confident that this is the right solution for your project. We’ve created a couple of sample models that are designed to give clients a taste of what to expect.
